Raising $10,000 this #GivingTuesday can provide the means for survivors to rebuild their life away from abuse - means that are often taken away under the power and control of an abuser.
Meet Tonya, a single mother of a little girl. For years, Tonya lived in abusive homes. She was never encouraged and never safe, until she arrived at DASH. During her first year at DASH's Cornerstone emergency safe housing program, Tonya was able to change her last name as well as change her address. She achieved her safety goal with the support of her DASH advocate - an empowering feeling that she felt for the first time. For Tonya, these changes meant ensuring her safety from her abuser and taking back her life for her and her daughter. DASH was able to provide the means for Tonya to rebuild her life on her own terms. In the last year, Tonya and her daughter moved out of DASH's Cornerstone program and into permanent housing.
